Welcome to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer Newspapers In Education program. NIE provides newspapers, learning programs and online activities to classrooms throughout Puget Sound to help foster literacy and real-world learning.

Educators in King and Snohomish counties, register for the annual P-I Spelling Bee for students in grades 6 - 8, and receive free classroom newspapers through the Seattle P-I NIE program to help build your student’s vocabulary. Please see the flyer for more details.The deadline for registering is October 15.

Check out “Healthy Living” as part of your active summer! A special section presented by Newspapers In Education, Bartell Drugs and the Washington Health Foundation; developed for use elementary and middle school classrooms. Plus view resources inside for information on Washington’s “Healthiest State” campaign. Read the PDF online, or additional copies are available at all Bartell Drugstores around the state.

Shining the Light on Your Government: A special section presented by Newspapers In Education and the Washington Coalition for Open Government. Developed for use in high school classrooms to help meet the Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) for civics education in Washington state.
