  You can process food, too!

Cartoon Ask a parent to help you make this recipe for fresh and crunchy Applesauce!

  1. Wash two pounds of your favorite Washington apples. (Golden Delicious, Fuji or Gala are super!)

  2. Core the apples and cut them into eighths.

  3. Measure three tablespoons of fresh lemon juice into a small bowl.

  4. Put 3-4 apple slices and some lemon juice into a food processor or blender.

  5. Now start 'er up! You may have to stop the blender every few seconds and use a spatula to push down the bigger pieces.

  6. When the apples look good and mooshed up, scrape them into a bowl.

  7. Repeat this process until all the apples have been crushed and blended.

  8. Add one teaspoon of cinnamon and one of the following: 1/4 cup packed brown sugar; three tablespoons of honey or maple syrup; 1/4 cup finely chopped raisins.

  9. Refrigerate until chilled.

  10. Now dig in!
