Ask a parent to help you make this recipe for fresh and crunchy Applesauce!
- Wash two pounds of your favorite Washington apples. (Golden Delicious, Fuji or Gala are super!)
- Core the apples and cut them into eighths.
- Measure three tablespoons of fresh lemon juice into a small bowl.
- Put 3-4 apple slices and some lemon juice into a food processor or blender.
- Now start 'er up! You may have to stop the blender every few seconds and use a spatula to push down the bigger pieces.
- When the apples look good and mooshed up, scrape them into a bowl.
- Repeat this process until all the apples have been crushed and blended.
- Add one teaspoon of cinnamon and one of the following: 1/4 cup packed brown sugar; three tablespoons of honey or maple syrup; 1/4 cup finely chopped raisins.
- Refrigerate until chilled.
- Now dig in!
